Pat Hill
Pat messaged SOBER COWBOY on Instagram for the first time on April 20th 2024. The message said “I made it here. My story is I had two years no drinking or anything, then my wife got killed on her way to a barrel race in a wreck. Left me with a 4 year old to raise. May 7th, 2022 I lost her. Things have been western since then.”
April 22nd: Things are better today.
April 23rd: Day 5 and scared as hell.
April 25th: Im good still sober clawing and fighting, but still sober.
April 26th: Still sober.
Silence.
May 14th: I failed. Can I try again?
May 28th started the first day of the rest of Pat’s life.
The SOBER COWBOY Community took Pat under their shelter, and he connected and formed a bond with one of our own. James was a little bit ahead of Pat at over 6 months when they began communicating. James and Pat formed a relationship that is unbreakable. They have healed, helped each other, and created a bond of recovery together.
Pat has recovered and flourished in his relationship with his daughter, with his sport (calf ropin) and with Jesus Christ. You can find Pat doing ‘Proverbs with Pat’ on Tiktok @pattherealdealhill, practicing his wraps and hooey, and cuttin’ it up with James.
The progress that he has made has been such an inspiration. When he first came to SOBER COWBOY, I was concerned and didn’t know if we would be able to provide the resources that he needed, but we did and thankfully with the community and our meetings Pat has been able to climb out of the hole of addiction and begin his new journey.
We are so proud of the dedication, positivity, and perseverance that he has shown, and can’t wait to see what else unfolds in his life.
